White is everywhere in Kyoto: in paper, plaster, textiles, ceramics, and the quiet spaces between objects. Yet white is not only a colour. It can emerge from the way a material is structured and from how that structure meets light.
This familiar colour is the starting point for Pureosity’s next public journey. Working with READYFOR, the team has begun preparing a crowdfunding initiative to support the next stage of research into nature-inspired materials and the creative possibilities they may open.
Research that can be seen, touched, and shared
The proposed campaign would help move the work forward through experiments, prototyping, analysis, and public communication. The aim is not to promise a finished product. It is to invite people into the research process while its possibilities are still being discovered.
One working direction connects Kyoto’s culture of white with material research inspired by nature. Future exploration may bring the research into dialogue with craft, design, paper, textiles, and other physical forms. Each possibility will need to be tested rather than assumed.

A path from Kyoto toward a wider public
The longer-term ambition is to translate the research into objects and public experiences that can travel beyond the laboratory. A possible future presentation in Milan is being explored as part of that vision, although the venue, format, and final works have not yet been confirmed.
The campaign target, schedule, rewards, and final scope are also still under development with READYFOR and the relevant university stakeholders. Pureosity will share confirmed details when the campaign is ready to open.
For now, the preparation itself marks an important step: bringing science, craft, and public participation into the same conversation, beginning with a colour we all think we know.
